Codility is excited to launch the beta phase of our next-gen IDE that provides a full IntelliSense support, debuggers and integrated terminal.
Our Next-gen IDE follows the Visual Studio Code standard, which is the IDE 70%+ engineers worldwide use in their day jobs. It will allow for our customers to showcase a realistic job environment, mirroring company standard setup and sharing part of a real-life project with their candidates.
The VSCode IDE is now available to all customers both in Screen and Interviews. To create an assessment that uses the next-gen VSCode IDE in Screen, navigate to the top right corner and click "New IDE assessment", which will lead you to the usual assessment creation flow. To use it in Interviews, navigate to an empty task and choose to work in the VSCode IDE:
The benefits of the next-gen VSCode IDE:
- Depending on your organization's use cases, VSCode IDE may be more fitting for your screening and interviewing process, especially that of senior engineers. The beta already offers working environments with Jupyter Notebook, Icarus Verilog, full-stack tasks (back-end, front-end, a database within a single task etc.)
- The developers are already familiar with this IDE. According to the Stack Overflow 2023 Developer Survey, over 73% of developers are using VS Code as their IDE, making it by far the most popular choice.
- The next-gen VSCode IDE offers advanced functionalities: full IntelliSense, access to the terminal, debugging tools, and anything else the developers are using in their day-to-day jobs.
