The Screen setup check lets candidates confirm their camera, microphone, screen sharing, displays, browser and connection before the assessment starts. This ensures any possible technical issues are identified and solved before the assessment starts, ensuring a seamless candidate experience.
You will only see checks relevant to your assessment, depending on the settings your test sponsor selected, such as camera, microphone or connection speed. You won't be able to take the assessment until identified issues are resolved. The exception is connection speed test, which is shown as a warning.
Non-proctored assessments will only run a connection speed test.
Supported Browsers
Browser support is evaluated during the setup check, based on the assessment configuration. Full list: Supported Browsers and Devices
Please note that Safari or Firefox for a video-proctored assessment is not supported for video proctoring and the assessment cannot continue until a supported browser is used.

The Connection speed is measured and reported, but a poor connection result won't stop the candidate from taking the assessment.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Do candidates need to configure anything?
No. The rows shown follow the proctoring options on each assessment.
Can a candidate skip the setup check?
No. Blocking issues must pass before the Continue or Start assessment button is enabled. Assessments without proctoring only show the Connection row and can always continue on a supported browser.
Does a poor connection result stop the candidate?
No. An Unstable or Fluctuating connection shows a warning, and the candidate can still continue.
Why is a candidate on Safari or Firefox blocked?
Video proctoring with screen sharing requires Chrome 137+, Chromium Edge 137+ or Opera 118+. The check tells the candidate upfront instead of failing after Start.
Will candidates be asked for camera or microphone permission twice?
No. The proctoring recording reuses the streams opened during the check.
Does the timer start during the setup check?
No. As before, the timer starts only after the onboarding steps. The candidate continues past the check (and the guided tour, if enabled) before the assessment starts.
Does the setup check apply to Interviews?
Not yet. The setup check is for Screen assessments only.
Can recruiters see the setup check result in the report?
Not yet. This is planned feature.
What happens if a candidate plugs in a second monitor?
On assessments with camera, snapshot or screen proctoring enabled, the start is blocked until the extra display is disconnected.
