Suggested Tasks for Randomised Assessments

Using the Task Randomiser was often a less than-ideal experience, requiring the knowledge of the entire task library in order to create tasks pools in the assessment. 

Suggested Tasks for Randomised Assessments no longer requires assessment creators to know the whole task library by heart.

When randomising, each task in the assessment becomes a task pool. Creators can fill a pool three ways:

• Auto-fill it (or all pools at once) based on the original task's parameters,

• Pick from suggested alternatives shown directly under the pool,

• Add tasks from the library manually.

Suggestions match on difficulty and time limit (plus language support), so every candidate gets a comparable task even though they don't get the same one. The randomiser warns when tasks inside a pool differ in difficulty or time limit, prevents duplicates, and enforces a per-pool task limit.

Randomisation is still started from the Screen dashboard: open the assessment's 3-dot menu and choose Randomise tasks.

You will notice a completely new design on the randomiser page. Each task in the assessment has its own task pool with the original task as its anchor.

You have three options available for randomisation: 

1. Fill all pools

2. Per pool - Add from suggestions.

3. Per pool - Add from library

1. Fastest path - Fill all pools. 

One click auto-fills every pool with tasks matching the original task's parameters: number of tasks, difficulty, time limit, task type and language support.

2. Per pool - Add from suggestions. 

Suggested alternatives appear directly under the pool, ranked by similarity to the original task. Add them individually; load more if the first ten aren't enough.

3. Per pool - Add from library. 

Open the task library and pick tasks manually for full control.

The randomiser warns when tasks inside a pool differ in difficulty or time limit, blocks duplicates, and caps the number of tasks per pool. Use Reset to discard changes to a pool before saving.

• Suggestions and auto-fill only work for Codility library tasks. Pools anchored on a custom task show these options greyed out with a tooltip; add tasks from the library manually instead.

• Suggestions are calculated from the first (original) task in a pool, not from the whole pool.

• Similarity currently considers difficulty and time limit (plus language support and task type); skills-based matching is not yet available.

• Auto-fill may add fewer tasks than requested when not enough comparable tasks exist

• Randomisation can be configured after the assessment is created (using the 3-dot menu), not during creation.
